We went on Friday afternoon right before Memorial Day and there was no one around. So we were free to explore.
A few things we learned in our exploring:
The Capitol is a beautiful work of architecture. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the amazing details. And the kids had fun checking out every floor via the elevator. I am pretty sure they were more excited about riding up and down in that little box than almost anything.
While the marble is lovely it amplifies even the smallest whisper. And unfortunately our kids are not quiet whisperers. It's a good thing no one was there trying to get any work done.
Even though the House and Senate chambers are identical except the seat cushion color, we couldn't leave without checking out every nook and cranny of each chamber respectively.
It's good fun pretending to be Speaker of the House.
Visiting the capitol is a BLAST!
