So the only problem with our fun day out at Given's was that Ella's finger got burned while we were roasting marshmallows.

I didn't think much about it that day as I thought she was just being overly dramatic (that happens a lot with all the kids.) She just would not stop crying about it - all that day and evening and then for the next week! That evening after swimming she had some pretty big blisters on her fingers. We tried bandaging them up and putting some antibacterial cream on them for several days. But she just got worse. She continued to cry about her fingers and wouldn't let anything touch them.

By Tuesday the next week her fingers looked like this:

By Wednesday Ella also had a fever would do nothing but lie around crying about her burn. Time to try something else than what we were doing.
I took her into our pediatrician and sure enough her burn was infected. Our doctor said that outside of burns she had seen in the burn unit, it was the worst she had seen. Poor Ella. So we drained her wound, got her an oral and a topical antibiotic, and went back the next day to the doctor for some more checking and wound maintenance (and a $400 bill!)
After a few days, several doses of antibiotics, and lots more wound maintenance it finally started to look better.
Not a very fun time for any of us, especially Ella. We are so glad she is better with no lasting damage.
